The Snug Nest

Hello and welcome to my blog! I’m Gem, the designer-maker behind Snug Creations, where I sell my hand knitted accessories & yarn-based home décor both through my online shop here and on Etsy.

I blog about cosy living for modern mums to help them enjoy life’s simple pleasures because in a world that moves so fast, it’s nice just to slow down, create memories, enjoy the company of family and friends and cherish the good times.

New knitted pumpkins - perfect decor for Autumn home trends

Posted on

Announcing new not-so-spooky Autumnal home decor and easy halloween costume ideas.

Autumn is well and truly here - the air is becoming crisp and the leaves are wonderfully crunchy on the pavement. That must mean that halloween is nearly here - a time for fun with family and friends. Whether you are a halloween fanatic and enjoying taking the kids trick or treating or if you’d prefer to avoid all that and want to bring some seasonal decor into your home, I’m sure you’ll love Snug’s new decor pumpkins.

Modern, cosy, Autumn Home Decor Pumpkins

I’ve designed this new product as a tasteful alternative to some of the tacky plastic halloween products available on the high street. Inspired by Scandinavian style and simplicity, these gorgeous little pumpkins add a touch of cosy seasonal style to your home this Autumn.

Available in three seasonal colours to purchase individually, or as a set of three, these knitted pumpkins are made from gorgeous wool/alpaca blend yarn and generously filled with polyester filling. They are a versatile design and look great on your coffee table, mantelpiece or dining table and can be used year after year - something to look forward to each Autumn. I have mine on my dining table with some flowers as you can see in the photo below.

Ideas for your pumpkins:

  • Seasonal decor in any room of your home
  • As a prop or part of a costume for halloween or ‘trick or treating’
  • Thanksgiving table decor - you could even tie names to the stalks and use them as place names
  • A gift to your hosts for thanksgiving
  • A prop for photography

Easy halloween costume ideas

Once again, my pumpkin hats are proving very popular to be a seasonal best seller (they started selling in July!). Due to demand, I’ve just listed a teeny baby size, which is perfect for baby photographers, in addition to 7 other sizes from 0-3 months right up to large adult. I love knitting these hats because the soft merino yarn is just fabulous to work with. The finished hats are really cosy and warm and the stalk detail is so cute! Even better - they are machine washable and hypoallergenic - perfect for everyone!

Teaming a pumpkin hat with one of my decor pumpkins with an orange outfit would be a ridiculously easy outfit for the kids - or even for you. For a little inspiration, here’s Georgie wearing her hat last year - how gorgeous does she look in her pumpkin hat and orange stripey top?

I hope you love the new pumpkins as much as I do. I did have a whole list of Autumn and halloween products that I wanted to launch this year, but other priorities arose - at least I know what will be in production next year!
